Critical Resistance seeks to build an international movement to end the prison industrial complex by challenging the belief that caging and controlling people makes us safe. It was formed in 1997 when activists opposed to the idea that imprisonment and policing could provide a solution for social, political, and economic problems came together to organize a conference examining and challenging what we have come to call the prison industrial complex. This collection contains several issues of the volunteer-run bi-lingual Critical Resistance publication, The Abolitionist, in addition to other publications by the organization.
